DINNER WITH BEAU AND AMY

Beau & Amy were kind enough to invite us over for dinner AND let us bring our energetic toddlers. This was the first time they had met Davis & Diana. Davis was very excited to find out that they have a yorkshire terrier (if you follow the blog - you know both the kids have a recent interest in dogs). Davis is still a little nervous around dogs but still wants to play with them. He and Diana both talked about Tango all of last week. Diana loved Beau and both the kids loved Amy as she was so sweet and patient with them. They will be great parents someday!! Thanks again for the great dinner!

DAVIS THE GARDNER

Davis has really taken an interest in plants & flowers lately. We caught him picking dandelions at the park and planting them in the sandbox. He even got some water so he could water what he planted before we went home. He also planted a dandelion in the empty water bottle. All of this interest peaked after we were driving in the car while it was raining. Davis asked me why it rains and I explained it made the grass, trees, and flowers grow. Davis has also been picking flowers and pressing them inside one of his books. I thought that was so cute.

STORY TIME AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY

Crystal got the kids a book about dogs a few weeks ago. We have read it hundreds of times and both of the kids love animals. I figured they would love to go to the Humane Society and it turns out they have a free storytime. A wonderful woman named Miss Barbara read the kids two books about animals and then one of the volunteers brought in a guinea pig named Joey for everyone to pet. Davis did a great job being attentive and listening to directions - Diana on the other hand tried to strip (yes strip) during the story. She saw no problem with wanting to take her dress off :-) Once I talked to her about being a little more private she understood and we didn't have to deal with that anymore.

After storytime, we got to look at all the animals. Davis & Diana adored the dogs. Diana was trying to kiss them through the glass. Davis really wanted to bring one home.

Davis was excited when he found a yorkshire terrier on the wall as that is the dog he thinks Mommy looks like.

HIKING WITH AUNT KAREN

Here are my little explorers on their fun hike with Aunt Karen. After the hike we went over to the baseball field to run the bases. Diana decided to sing for us as you will see in the picture. She told me she was singing "stars". Maybe she meant the star spangled banner? I'm not really sure she could have meant twinkle, twinkle too :-)

PARK DAY WITH FRIENDS...

This weeks' weather other than today has been great - it definitely lifts your mood to spend the day outside. I am really looking forward to summer. We went to the park with Aunt Karen, Miss Tasha, Mya, Manny, Michelle & Brooklyn. Davis was excited to see Mya. All the kids love Aunt Karen; in fact, Brooklyn ran up to the park and said "Aunt Karen!" All kids love Aunt Karen :-)

WISHING DADDY A GOOD DAY...

Michael had a big day at work on Tuesday so we surprised him with a framed picture that said "Good things will happen today". The kids were excited to see him out the door in the morning. I love how Diana is holding onto him. The kids have been waking up really early lately so they can go outside with Daddy when he leaves and ride bikes for a little bit while they watch him drive away. I have some early risers here at my house!

MAKAI'S SECOND BIRTHDAY

Makai turned 2! Charlene had a great party at Generations at Play on Monday morning which I loved. It was a great party because the kids played and us Moms didn't have to chase them the whole time. That is an A+ birthday party in my book. Great choice Charlene!

Charlene told Davis to help Makai blow out the candles you know he was game for that....

Diana couldn't wait for Makai to see his gifts....

A GREAT DAY....

with Daddy. Davis is very happy when he gets to hang out with his Daddy. His comment on this particular day was "Mommy, this is a great day!"

WE ALL LIVE ON THE BIG BLUE BALL....

We attended at play at Sunset Playhouse last weekend. MOM's Club attended during the week and we weren't able to make it that day so we brought Daddy along for the Saturday performance. Davis loved it and seemed to understand what was going on. One of the actors asked the audience where we live (he was trying to get them to say "earth") Davis blurted out loud and clear "Wisconsin!". Diana on the other hand was more focused on how she could get on the stage and wanted to stand up so she didn't miss anything.

Making a "shaker" before the play.

The sun and the moon did such a great job including the audience. The kids loved the parts where they could sing (imagine that). My kids are constantly making a band or playing school so any opportunity to talk, sing, clap, or yell loudly excites them.
Diana refused to sit down for most of the play and was not afraid to tell me "NO" when I asked her to sit down. My sweetie pie is definitely in full swing two year old phase. It's not terrible like they say - it just means you have to adjust quickly or you'll want to pull your hair out at the end of everyday LOL! Ok - maybe somedays it isn't so fun to navigate through all the new-found independence...
The cast chose four volunteers from the audience to help make the ocean. Notice however that there are 5 children on stage. Miss Diana really wanted to help with the ocean so she ran up full-speed and jumped right in. Can you say Davis Jr. - she is turning into Davis with her bravery lately. Anyhow, it's a cute picture and she was so happy to help with the ocean and not so happy when Mommy came up to get her. Daddy gladly told me I had to get her not him :-) What's really funny to me is that normally Davis would be the one doing this but in this instance he was telling Diana "no Diana come back!"
Cuddling with Daddy at the play - they loved having him there and the fact that they got to where their pajamas...

THURSDAYS WITH BROOKLYN...

We have been watching Brooklyn the last few Thursdays and the kids love having her here. They especially love taking care of all Diana's baby dolls together.

Davis posed them in this photo so they could take a "family picture" with their baby. Too funny!!

Davis reading the dog book to Brooklyn. The dog book from Crystal is a big hit around her lately. Davis told me I had hair like a yorkshire terrier!! He has also decided that we need a bulldog while Diana would like a poodle.

OUR VISIT TO UNCLE PATRICK'S SCHOOL

We haven't visited my brother at the school where he teaches in awhile so we decided to go see him this week. The first major event for the kids is always watching the students get on the bus after school. Davis & Diana were so excited to watch all the kids get on the bus. Diana asked Davis if she can ride a "purple bus" some day. His response "no, Diana - Mommy will take you - I'm riding the bus!"

When we got to the classroom, Uncle PatPat had the paints from the art teacher all ready for the kids. Davis loved painting in the classroom.

Davis' masterpieces are the first two from the left - Diana painted the beautiful one on the right.

Diana's new word is "privacy". She told me "Mommy privacy" while talking on the phone. I guess she has extended the use of the word "privacy" beyond the bathroom LOL! Where did she learn that word anyway?? Oh, yeah I say it every time I try to use the bathroom alone around here :-)

Davis has been talking about Uncle PatPat reading him this book for the past few days.

Diana loved playing at the computer. At one point, it shut off and she yelled "my e-mail, help me!!". Each time she turned the office chair it made a loud noise upon which Diana would yell "who farted!!". Okay, I'm laughing really hard here - I have a feeling she will be saying lots of new and interesting things in the next few weeks. She's not my little baby anymore:-(

CATCHING THE RAIN

Davis and Diana begged me to go outside to "catch some rain". I'll admit I was a little confused until Davis brought me two glasses and said "we can catch it with this Mom". Diana agreed it was a great idea so we put their rain boots on and out they went. I was laughing so hard I almost didn't grab my camera before they came in - I'm glad I did :-) Upon review of the rain in their cups, we determined that the rain moves really fast. Luckily for them, it was just sprinkling. I am fearing the next down pour we get as they won't be able to go "catch the rain" hehe.

SMELL THE FLOWERS MOMMY!

My two beautiful children were so excited for me to wake up on Mother's Day morning so I could see the flowers they picked out for me. Davis jumped up on the tables and said "smell the flowers Mommy!!". We normally don't allow standing on the table around here ( I have two climbers so trust me they've attempted it many times) but I didn't mind as I thought it was very cute that they were smelling the flowers and encouraging me to do the same. Children have a way of appreciating the little things in life that is inspiring to us adults. Here are my two inspirations smelling the flowers....

BENI'S FOURTH BIRTHDAY PARTY

Davis went to a "Milwaukee Brewer" birthday party for his friend Beni who turned 4. Davis liked hanging out with all the big kids and was pretty surprised when the Brewer sausages showed up at the party. They had an obstacle course, a t-ball relay, and got to run around in the gym for a few hours. We have finally found something Davis is not so good at LOL! (baseball). Looks like he and Daddy can spend some time this summer working on his swing. He got up there and acted like he was golfing :-) Davis is now very excited about turning 4 in October - I don't have the heart to explain just how far away that is.

FATHER -DAUGHTER DANCE

Michael & Diana attended her first dance last night. Diana has been looking forward to this for a week now and Mr. Davis has been asking if he could be a "daughter" for the night but still stay a boy LOL! Diana was a trooper and made it through the entire night (she was up late!) Michael said at one point she got sleepy and then the D.J. played "Hey, Soul Sister" at which point Diana jumped up and said "that's my song". We had just used that song for a birthday montage for her little friend Brooklyn so it was fresh in her head. She has been telling me all day that she did the "hokey pokey at dance". I think that was her favorite part other than the desert. Michael said Diana loved it when they slow danced to Miley Cyrus "The Climb." I'm so happy they had a fun night.
